Suspect At Large After Shots Fired In Broad Daylight At Vehicle On Busy Westchester Roadway

A suspect is at large after shots were fired in broad daylight at a vehicle on a busy roadway in Westchester.

The incident happened 11:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8 in Yonkers in front of 104 S. Broadway (Route 9).

That's when a male suspect fired two shots at the vehicle parked at the location, Yonkers Police Department Sgt. Robert Spink said.

A vehicle passenger who is believed to be the intended target then exited the vehicle and fled into the Yonkers City Court. 

Members of the Yonkers Police Department and New York State Court Officers immediately responded and secured the scene. 

The area was cordoned off as units initiated a criminal investigation.

Detectives from the Yonkers PD Major Case Squad, Crime Scene Unit, and Digital Forensics Unit are conducting the investigation. 

"There were no injuries sustained as a result of this incident, and we believe that this was a targeted incident with no ongoing threat to public safety," said Spink, who noted the investigation is ongoing and more information may be released as it becomes available.
